As seen in

I'm Morag Williams. After twelve years and more than 180 projects on from setting up in London, and I've turned exactly that kind of half-formed idea into homes, restaurants, and bars that actually feel like the people living in them.

I grew up in a house in the Scottish Borders where nothing matched and nobody minded, which is probably why a room that's a little mismatched, and properly lived-in, is still the one I love most.

But really i'm known for listening hard enough to pick up on the things you can't quite put into words yet, and turning that into a room that's unmistakably yours.

You have pieces you love and no real idea how to make them sit together - plus every colour you try on the wall looks wrong by the time the tester pots dry.

You want a home that actually feels like you, not a show home.

Helen Cooke

Two dinner guests asked who'd done our kitchen before they'd even taken their coats off. Morag took about four sentences from us on how we wanted the room to feel and somehow turned it into the most lived-in space in the house.

From the first pot of tea, she understood exactly what we wanted for the bar: warm and colourful without ever tipping into chaos. Eighteen months on, regulars still ask who did the booths.

"Morag took a pub that didn't know what it wanted to be and turned it into somewhere people now plan their whole evening around. She makes bold choices feel obvious, which is rarer than it sounds."
